As a member of the CAA Airport Operations team, this role is responsible for adhering to all aspects of BDL’s Airport Certification Manual (ACM), which includes mandatory requirements set forth by Federal Aviation Regulations described under Part 139. This position is required under Part 139 to satisfy requirements for airfield inspections, implementing the Snow and Ice Control Plan, coordinating aircraft and non-aviation emergencies, responding to hazards from wildlife, and other situations that can be hazardous to aircraft operations. This role also responds to terminal and tenant needs, including escorting personnel and aircraft, maintenance reporting, and security threats. There is an essential snow operation duty component, with a mandatory winter assignment from November 1st – April 30.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Six (6) years of experience in the aeronautical operations activities of an airport or a scheduled airline.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have involved responsibility for the implementation of airport policies and procedures relating directly to Airside Operations and Airport Certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training in aviation management or a closely related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
A Master's degree in aviation management or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
An individual serving in this position must be able to successfully undergo a thorough background and security screening, pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting and maintain required security clearance during the duration of employment. Incumbents in this class must obtain Bradley movement area certification, allowing them to independently operate vehicles and equipment on Airfield movement areas while effectively communicating with Air Traffic Control for proper clearance. Movement area certification must be maintained during the duration of employment.
