Job Title: Assistant Airport Director Salary Range: $86,414.75 - $113,715.91 Open until filled.
Under general administrative direction of the Airport Executive Director, the Assistant Director will manage the day-to-day maintenance, operations, and safety functions to ensure effective, efficient, and safe operations of the airport according to federal regulations under Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. Ensures day to day activities are performed within the regulatory requirements with a focused attention on safety, security, business operations, financial constraints and longer term strategic plan accomplishments. Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, and supervises activities of the Operations staff in the general operations and maintenance, repair and/or replacement of landside, terminal, and airside infrastructure.
Drafts and maintains the FAA approved Airport Certification Manual (ACM) and the TSA approved Airport Security Program (ASP) and shall serve as the Airport Security Coordinator (ASC).
Oversees Airport badging.
Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g., interviewing, selecting, hiring, evaluating, supervising, training) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel, and achieving objectives within budget.
Assists Executive Director in developing annual operational and capital budgets, as well as applying for and monitoring grants and construction projects.
Plans and develops work/staff schedules including evaluating and monitoring project progress and costs, prioritizing, assigning, scheduling, and monitoring status of work orders.
Prepares estimates, approves purchases, and tracks budgeted expenditures.
Develops and coordinates training of airport employees according to FAA, TSA, OSHA, and other safety and hazardous materials regulations.
Inspects Airport facilities and airfield to determine maintenance and repair needs, prioritizes maintenance projects, and confers with maintenance supervisor regarding corrective action to be taken.
May need to work odd hours, potentially weekends and holidays, and manage emergency on-call needs.
Provides Operations support as required to perform installation, repairs and other operations and maintenance duties, including assisting in snow removal activities.
Complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations, Airport policies and procedures, and follows all safety precautions and standards.
Responds to and resolves problems within scope of authority; refers more complex problems or those beyond scope of authority to Executive Director; and informs the Executive Director of problems and concerns on a regular basis.
Represents the Airport on committees and with professional organizations as assigned.
Maintains current knowledge in the field of airport safety, security, operations, and maintenance.
Participates in lease negotiations and implementation of all leases and contracts with airport tenants.
Compiles statistics and prepares reports to provide information and assistance to the Airport Executive Director.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of FAR Part 139 and TSAR Part 1542.
Knowledge of air traffic control, airspace, and navigational aids.
Knowledge of or ability to learn, follow, and enforce Airport policies and procedures.
Knowledge of general maintenance principles, practices and techniques.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws, regulations and guidelines related to assigned work.
Knowledge of budget preparation, monitoring, and administration processes.
Skill in utilizing computer programs, databases and Microsoft Suite.
Ability to supervise the work of others and lead a team.
Ability to work odd hours, as well as potentially weekends and holidays, operate airport equipment and participate in snow removal activities.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to prioritize and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion.

Education and Qualifications:
Four-year degree in Airport Operations, Management or equivalent experience.
Five years of progressive supervisory and/or management experience in aviation management and/or operations at a Part 139 airport desired.
Demonstrable knowledge of Federal regulations pertaining to airport and air operations.
Computer skills and basic knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license as well as reliable transportation.
Private Pilot license and/or AAAE certifications desirable.
Must be able to pass background check and drug test and obtain an STC airport SIDA badge.
Physical Requirements and working conditions:
Most work is performed in a normal office environment. Daily work often involves moving between buildings and rooms. Occasional driving is required to attend meetings. Occasional work outside may be needed.
Occasional lifting and/or carrying 20 pounds or more with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.
Occasional bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
